Rated 3 out of 5 by from Outstanding controller, abysmal manual. This would be a 5+ star product if it weren't for the extraordinarily poor manual. This is a complex controller with a tremendous number of features and settings that can handle very difficult process control problems easily...once you figure out how to use it. Technical support, while very well meaning and committed to helping, was of not much assistance as they also relied on the same manual, and generally suggested "reading the manual" as a way out. I wouldn't have called if I hadn't read the manual. I will admit, that I am old, but I have been using Omega controllers for decades with few problems. The descriptions in the manual for this excellent controller were abysmal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DON'T The unit was so hard to program that even with Omega engineers helping/instructing me over the phone I could not get it to work. After 4 calls and about 8 hours on the phone I gave up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Capable, Simple, Affordable Controller Handy little controller that has worked flawlessly so far. Installed to replace the failing electronics in a drying oven and found it easy to adapt to relatively low temperature use with the appropriate limits and alarms. Has brought control temperatures (using the same sensor) within 2C of the setpoint compared to 10C with the older electronics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost Wise This is a cost wise controller that performs well. Omega is a trusted Company I have used for years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful, Compact, bit tricky to learn Works well, good features, bit tricky to program until reading on line manual. The included paper document is not clear about the button press timings to activate the three different menus.. Increasing and decreasing temperatures a bit slow as numbers increment and decrement slow as you hold the button. Bubble membrane buttons are not so easy to use they are so small, and require significant pressure to activate. You have to hold the little head unit I installed them in from moving as you press. Seems to hold temperatures very nicely, display is nice. Overall it is a very nice feature packed unit, and fairly easy to use once you figure it out.

When making a pattern with many steps, I see we can choose the temperature and time of each step and set an initial slope. However, this slope applies to all the steps. Is it possible to give each step a different slope so I can have different rates?

Asked by: ktb1165
Hi KTB1165, Thank you for the inquiry. Recipes consist of Setpoint (SP) and time (Ti) to the set point. Ramp rate is determined by the initial SP to final SP difference and the time Ti to the target. Best regards, OMEGA

Do you have a heater contactor for running (2) 1500 Watt, 240 VAC heaters ? Need (2) contactors each rated for 10 or 15A, in an enclosure.

Asked by: Iceman
Hi Iceman, Thank you for the inquiry. Our control relays are currently limited to 10 A service; https://br.omega.com/omegaFiles/auto/pdf/XTRE_SERIES.pdf https://www.omega.com/en-us/communication-and-connectivity/interface-cards/electromechanical-relays/xtre-series/p/XTRE10B40A Best regards OMEGA

omega recommend a cm16d3-m-ac controller how do i hook up wires to retransmit temperature signal to a plc

Asked by: james o
The output of this controller is a 'powered output' so simply run terminal # 5 (+) to the Positive input of your PLC, and #4 (-) to the Negative input of your PLC.
