Fine diameter transition joint thermocouple probes have the sheath crimped to a stainless steel barrel which is sealed with epoxy and has a PFA insulated lead wire. Thermocouple junctions are available as grounded, for fastest response time and lower cost; or insulated, for electrical isolation of the thermocouple from the sheath.

Sensor Temperature Range:
0.25 mm Diameter probes:
-40 to + 260°C (-40 to 500°F)
0.50 mm and 0.75 mm Diameter probes: -100 to + 750°C (-148 to 1382°F)
1.0 mm Diameter probes: -100 to + 1100°C (-148 to 2010°F)
Sheath material:
0.25mm and 0.75 mm Diameter probes:
316 stainless steel
0.50 mm and 1.0 mm Diameter probes: 310 stainless steel
Transition joint: 6.4 mm (¼") diameter x 32 mm (1 ¼") long pot seal. Max. Temp. 200°C (390°F)
Lead Wire: 1 m (40") of PFA insulated 7/0.2 mm (24 AWG) with stripped ends. Max. Temp. 250°C (480°F)

What is the response time of this thermocouple?

Asked by: ETLMD
Thank you for your inquiry ETLMD. The “Time Constant” or “Response Time” is defined as the time required to reach 63.2% of an instantaneous temperature change. Grounded thermocouples have a faster response than the ungrounded thermocouples. For more information, please review this link: https://www.omega.com/en-us/resources/thermocouples-response-time
