View Temperature + Humidity With A Web Browser
The OMEGA™ iTHX-SD transmitter lets you monitor and record Temperature, Relative Humidity and Dew Point over an Ethernet network or the Internet with no special software except a Web Browser.

The iTHX-SD serves Active Web Pages to display real-time readings, display charts of temperature and humidity, or log data in standard data formats for use in a spreadsheet or data acquisition program such as Excel or Visual Basic. The virtual chart viewed on the web page is a JAVA™ Applet that records a chart over the LAN or Internet in real-time. With the iTHX-SD, there is no need to invest time and money learning a proprietary software program to log or chart the data.

Live Readings

using the iTHX-SD Temperature & Humidity Ethernet Transmitter

SD Flash Memory Card
The iTHX-SD comes complete with a removable SD Flash Memory card that can store up to years of readings taken at ten second intervals.

Records on SD Flash Cards
The data is recorded on widely available SD (Secure Digital) flash cards. The format is a simple text file that is easily imported to spread sheets and other programs. It can be read on a PC or MAC with a USB card reader. You can also download the data remotely over an Ethernet network or the Internet.

iTHX-SD ET
Alarm Relays
The iTHX-SD features two 1.5 Amp relays. With the easy Web-based setup page, the two relays can be programmed for any combination of temperature or humidity, and high or low set points. The relays can also be programmed to remain latched and require a manual reset if a limit is exceeded.

Battery Backup
The iTHX-SD comes with a universal 100 to 240 Vac power adapter. A standard 9 Volt Alkaline battery (also included) allows the device to log data for up to 2 days without external ac power. A failure on the Ethernet network will not interrupt data recording.

Adjustable Charts
Chart scales are fully adjustable on the fly. For example, the chart can display one minute, one hour, one day, one week, one month or one year. Temperature and humidity can be charted across the full span (-40 to 124°C, and 0 to 100% RH) or within any narrow range such as (20 to 30°C). When a second sensor is added, users can select a chart that records channel 1, channel 2, or the difference of the two channels.

Award-Winning Technology
The iTHX-SD is simple to install and use, and features OMEGA's award-winning iServer technology that requires no special software except a Web Browser. The iTHX-SD connects to an Ethernet Network with a standard RJ45 connector and sends data in standard TCP/IP packets. It is easily configured with a simple menu using a Web Browser and can be password protected. From within an Ethernet LAN or over the Internet, the user simply types its IP address or an easy to remember name such as "Cleanroom5" or "ServerRoom" in any Web Browser, and the iTHX-SD serves a Web Page with the current readings.

Email Alarms
All iTHX-SD models that are on a LAN that is connected to the Internet can trigger an alarm that can be sent by email to a user or a distribution list anywhere in the world, including text messages to cell phones and PDA's.

Link to Web CAM or IP Camera
The Web page includes a link to a “Web Cam” or “IP camera” (not included). If you get a message about an alarm condition, you can quickly click on the link to view the actual scene over the Internet.

Display and Chart Two Channels
The iTHX-SD transmitters come complete with a temperature and humidity probe for measurement of a single location. With the addition of a second probe, the iTHX-SD transmitter can measure and display temperature, humidity and dew point in a second location up to ten feet away. The transmitter can display and chart absolute measurements in both locations, or a differential measurement between the two locations. The second probe requires no change to the basic iTHX-SD transmitter hardware, it can be added at the time of purchase or in the future. Omega offers a choice of industrial probes in 2" and 5" lengths, and a wand style for ambient indoor applications. A simple DB-9 "Y" connector is available for adding a second probe.

Sensor and Calibration
It is not necessary to take the iTHX-SD out of service for routine calibration. The temperature / humidity sensors are interchangeable and can be replaced for about the same cost as a typical calibration. Omega offers replacement sensors with optional 3-point NIST traceable calibration certificates.

Typical Applications
The iTHX-SD is great for monitoring temperature + humidity in applications such as: clean rooms, computer rooms, HVAC systems, pharmaceutical and food processing and storage, hospitals, laboratories, semiconductor fabs, electronic assembly, warehousing, museums, manufacturing, greenhouses, farm animal shelters, and many more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features We have incorporated this device in a Environmental Monitoring Unit for an Antenna Radome to provide us with historical data on the Environmental conditions within the Radome. We have storage data from one system for over 3 years recorded which allows feedback to the OEM of the Antenna and Radome.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Device Does Not Connect and Bad Service Ordered this device for alarms but it has difficulty connecting to network and randomly decides not to connect when hardwired to the computer for configuration. Omega has terrible customer service. Even with the warranty they did not help me fix my problem (took a year of me emailing and calling them before they responded). They sent me back the device saying there was no problem. It still does not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected Been installed in a proper machine shop with oil vapor and the likes. Sensor element is trash in my opinion (5% change over 2 years) but designed to be replaced yearly if maintaining certification is your requirement. The iTHX device, although showing it's age, still trucks along just fine. Gathering data is easy and there is no software crippling (why I stay with Omega, it does what it says it does today and 10 years from now). Their documentation allows for anything from a highly engineered system's dev team to a script writer to easily integrate this sensor. Exactly what was advertised, and has never had issues. Also, the last two sensors were of a higher caliber than previously. It's nice to be able to call someone at this price point as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our experience with the Chart Recorder These are nice for laboratory environmental monitoring/logging but somewhat cumbersome to set up and retrieve data from. I could not download data via the Ethernet port to my pc but was able to do so via the SD card. Problem with that was that recording start date and time has to be set each time Standby is pressed and the SD card is taken out then put back in. Overall a decent instrument.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Solid devices with absolutely mediocre management These devices run on ancient software, and forget their configured settings every time they lose power. They use 9V batteries for backup, which is not ideal because they can't be charged by the main power source, so if you need to deploy a bunch of these, it will be impossible to keep track of constantly replacing the batteries. The server product is difficult to find information on, and is also garbage with extremely limited features and functionality. They do not support WiFi or PoE for easy deployment options. The only pro to these is that they are accurate, and the device itself is very durable. Everything else stinkss though...look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service and products. I bought this item and when I received it we found that it had a cracked probe. I called Omega and talked to an engineer about this and he immediately sent out a replacement with hardly no questions asked. It was also sent overnight at no charge to me. GREAT service and products.

The iTHX-D3 used a separate End Character for Temp, Hum and Dew Point. We knew which one was being transmitted to the PLC based on that end character. Now the D3 has been replaced by the SD and it does not allow us to do this. What options do we have now?

Asked by: MikeS
The SD version does not have the option for the end character that is correct. However management has reinstated the D3 unit so you can contact customer service and return the SD model and order a D3 to fit your needs.

After disabling probe 2 I am getting HT Probe 1 Error. Is the sensor defective?

Asked by: Jyotirmoy
Hello, thank you for your question. If you already saved the configuration for 1 sensor only, then something as a lose connection could be the reason for this message. Please make sure the sensor is fully inserted into the socket. If this is not the case, please contact our Data Acquisition experts for further troubleshooting. The email is das@omega.com or you can give us a call and ask for DAS technical support.

I have 2 iTHX-SD devices that I placed in DHCP mode by pressing °C/°F and TIME/IP button during power-on. Both devices now have same MACID which is NOT the ones that were assigned during manufacture. MACID's are supposed to be hard coded. Why this happen?

Asked by: Susan1
A MAC address should never change but sometimes (rarely) they do. We haven't been able to narrow down the reason why it happens, but we do have a solution. There is an unlisted command string to overwrite the MAC by telnetting into port 2002: ‘s –MC[macaddr]’ The ‘s’ must be lowercase and the ‘MC’ must be uppercase. Examples: s –MC00:03:34:00:c3:4e s –MC00:03:34:00:B9:B6 c (the “c” confirms the change)” If you have more questions on this, please send us an email to das@omega.com for your specific case. Regards.

According to the Product Spec sheet for Omega iTHX-SD Chart Recorders, regarding "Sensor and Calibration" it states "It is not necessary to take the iTHX-SD out of service for routine calibration." Does this mean that routine calibration is not required?

Asked by: MichaelVale
We sell the pre-calibrated probes, you could order them three or four weeks before the ones you have expire (that is typical lead time for you), that way you do not have to put your devices out of service. Thank you.
