Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the Best Since these USB-enabled transducers are performing perfectly in a unit operations lab at the University of Kansas, they are now installed in a new undergrad fluid mechanics lab experiment at the University of Delaware

A previous answer stated "A static pressure 500 psi above the rated differential pressure range... can be applied simultaneously to both ports." Does this apply to all models? (i.e. the 0-250dpsi model is rated to 750psi line pressure instead of 500psi?)

Asked by: ZachF
That would be correct

Should the transducer body be in a horizontal or vertical orientation when the ports are in a horizontal orientation?

Asked by: Madison
The position of the body (electronics housing) should not matter. The orientation of the pressure ports (especially on the low differential range units) can effect the reading. It always best to scale the instrumentation that you using to reading the signal from your transducer with it oriented in the position you are going to be using it in.

Item# PX409-015DWUUSBH The data sheet states that the Output Signal is Digital and the Electrical Output is USB. Is there software available to monitor the transducers output if this connects thru USB?

Asked by: DFF2
Yes there is. Software can be downloaded free for Omega's website.

I'm attempting to get a steady state flow through one of our apparatuses for flow assurance research for glaucoma but there is a problem with air being in the sytem during the flow testing. What is the best way to eliminate air from the equation?

Asked by: Tanner
Tanner, thank you for your question, I do not have a specific operating procedure to eliminate air from the equation, since I am not familiar with your system design. Typically you will suction our Air or flush out air before you apply a positive pressure. Thank you.

Currently I have the black and red cables attached to a COM and V supply respectively. I was wondering of the remaining green and white cables, which one is used as the analog input wire?

Asked by: PSU1
If you are working with a 4 to 20mA output sensor only the Red and Black wire are used. In a 2-wire loop powered device the power supply, load and sensor are wired in series. If you are not familiar with this type of hook-up please contact Omega at 1-800-826-6342 and ask for the Pressure Group.

How can I find the response time of this transducer? (We need a fast response one)

Asked by: Mahdi
Thank you for your inquire These units have a under 1 mill second response time. Be understand that these and all the transducers we carry are not dynamic products. If you need more information? Please contact us directly.

At one side of the transducer, we are going to have an aqueous solution with fine solid particles. Is there any consideration for this condition? Are "oil filled" transducers proper for this fluid? If no, please introduce a porper type.

Asked by: Mahdi
It depends on what you define as "fine" particles. The fitting has a small port that leads to a chamber where the diaphragm is located. The particles could possibly clog the port. This would not damage the unit but it would cause it to read incorrectly. If at all possible you should filter the solution to make it as clean as you can. The ideal solution would be a sensor with a flush diaphragm (no cavity). We do not offer a differential sensor with this feature

If 500 psi is the maximum line/static pressure that can be applied to both sides of the sensor simultaneously, how can these PX409s go up to a measurement range of 1000 psid?

Asked by: ChrisB
On the 1000 PSID range units. A static pressure 500 psi above the rated differential pressure range (1500 PSI) can be applied simultaneously to both ports.
